Local game Warden reports comparatively safe, successful hunting season; baiting issues surface

Local game and wildlife officials are touting the 2007 gun-deer hunting season as a safe and overall successful harvest of the area's deer population.
Hunters registered 9117 deer in Barron County during the 9-day season, up 11 percent from last year. Of the 9117 deer, 3307 were bucks and 5810 were does. About 48 percent of the deer taken in Barron County this year were registered opening weekend.
