Explore Minnesota Birding Report Update  July 19, 2013 
 
 
 Some shorebird species have already begun their migration south. A wonderful shorebird weekend workshop, hosted by Doug Buri and Bob Janssen, will be offered August 2-4, 2013 on the MN/SD border. The following is a list of recent, significant sightings:

A Yellow-Throated Warbler was still singing on the east side of the Nature Store parking lot at Whitewater State Park in Winona County according to Chad Heins on July 16th. On the 10th, Chad also found a male Blue Grosbeak in Blue Earth County at the gravel pit along 216th Street, northwest of the junction of State Highways 68 and 60.

On the 13th, a Cattle Egret was reported southwest of the town of Mayer in Carver County, along 82nd Street and just south of 78th Street.

A few fall migrants have been reported over the past week, most of them shorebirds, including Greater Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Baird's Sandpiper, and Solitary Sandpiper. And last, there was an interesting report of a Nashville Warbler in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County on July 16th.
