BHS Demons Pistol Team has Medal-filled Debut
On the weekend of April 5th, the newly founded Burlington High School Demons Pistol Shooting Team competed in their first official shooting match in the Scholastic Pistol Program. Located in Sparta, IL, the World Shooting and Recreational Complex held a series of shooting competitions. One of the four events which took place was the inaugural Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) Regional match. Consisting of four different stages, local students ages 13 to 18, competed against other schools in the Midwest, in a race against time. Squads of four members, with the option of a fifth alternate, shoot steel targets in various placements around the range. In this sporting event speed and accuracy are required for success.
Head Coach, Jeremy Krusemark, and Assistant Coaches, Kevin Kerr and Wes Walker, led three pistol squads to victory. The Junior Rimfire Division, members Quinne Herolt, Mikayla Vieau, Savannah Fry, and Amelia Hennegan, won the gold by taking First Place. The Junior Centerfire Division, members Julianne Krusemark, Matt Askin, Melanie Uhlenhake, Kaylee Lancour, and Hunter Conrad, brought home the silver by taking Second Place. The Senior Centerfire Division, members Myles Walker, Mariah Kerr, Ethan Kerr, and Courtenay Krusemark, won the bronze with a Third
Place finish.
The Burlington Demons Pistol Shooting Team will continue shooting
throughout the spring and summer months competing against area schools and clubs. The team will participate in a Wisconsin state match in June and the National Championship in Sparta, IL in July.
