Beaver Dam Invitational Results -- June 25, 2011
Beaver Dam, WI -- June 25, 2011 It was a new venue for the BHS Demons Trapshooting Team but the results were the same on Saturday, June 25th at the Beaver Dam Conservationist?s Youth Invitational shoot with the Burlington High School trapshooters once again coming out the on top of the score sheets.
In their first-ever trip to Beaver Dam, the Burlington shooters won their sixth gold medal of the season in six events and this week they added silver as well. Demons Team #1 of Christian Jensen, Myles Walker, Jordan Hintz, Ethan Kerr and Becca Alby narrowly defeated the #2 team of Cody Schilz, Terry Carr, Brent Debruine, Matt Henningfield and Gunnar Knight 486 to 482 on a beautiful, sunny afternoon. Berlin #1 took third with a 462 score. BHS team #6 of Hunter Conrad, Cody McCarthy, Jarod Hahn, Mckinley Herda and Weston Uhlenhake took second place in Class B with a team score of 420.
The Demons also swept the individual awards with Jensen taking the Top Gun plaque following an exciting 25-24 shoot-off with best friend Schilz who won the gold medal, both had broke 99/100 in the tournament. Demon teammates Gunnar Knight and Myles Walker brought home the silver and bronze, both breaking 98 targets. Becca Alby, Mariah Kerr and Anna Sommers swept the ladies awards with 96, 94 and 90 targets each. Alexa McCarthy was the top junior (5-8 grade) with a 94. Many of the Burlington bunch shot their personal best scores at the event.
This is the last team event of the 2011 season for the Demon trapshooters who will now prepare for the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Nationals held in Sparta, IL on July 13-16.
