Canadians Claim Pheasants Forever's Gold Membership Medal
Calgary Pheasants Forever chapter banquet is top member event Des Moines, Iowa ? February 28, 2010 ? The Calgary, Canada, Pheasants Forever chapter is the recipient of the organization's 2009 Chapter Membership Award for hosting Pheasants Forever's largest membership banquet during the past year. The chapter's nearly 500-member strong banquet was recognized at Pheasants Forever's National Pheasant Fest 2010 Banquet in Des Moines.
"Membership is vital to the success of any Pheasants Forever chapter, and is a crucial element to Pheasants Forever across North America," said Howard K. Vincent, Pheasants Forever National President and CEO. "The mission is conserving pheasants and upland birds through wildlife habitat work, but it's a mission that minus the work of chapter members ? fundraising, habitat projects, outdoor youth events and support of public policies that affect wildlife ? would cease to exist. Congratulations to Calgary Pheasants Forever for yet another tremendous year."
Calgary Pheasants Forever formed in 1993 by six Albertans concerned with the declining upland bird populations on the province's prairies. With annually successful membership banquets ? including the 497-member event in 2009, the chapter now claims 800 total members and has become one of southern Alberta's leaders in upland wildlife habitat conservation and restoration. Calgary Pheasants Forever has helped improve more than 2,300 acres for upland birds and other provincial wildlife, which includes 1,380 acres of nesting cover improvement, 300 acres of wetlands restoration and 405 acres acquired via purchase and opened to public hunting and outdoor recreation.
Calgary Pheasants Forever's next fundraising banquet and auction will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Hall E, BMO Centre, Stampede Park.
