Green Bay Fishing Report: February 24, 2010

Little Sturgeon Bay
Whitefish have been the most productive over the last week with good catches of fish starting around Lime Kiln Road up to Sand Bay. Most anglers have been using jigging spoons or Genz worms tipped with a waxworm. Also anglers have been getting some perch inside the bay. There have been some reports of walleye biting up near Larson Reef.

Sturgeon Bay
Anglers have been fishing perch and northern pike off the State Park. The perch bite has been good, most anglers are using waxworms to catch fish. The pike action has been slow, golden shiners have been the best bait. Anglers have also been fishing pike at the yacht club with some success. Fishermen have been catching some smelt off the Stone Quarry over the last week with some good numbers reported. A ship had passed through the channel recently and broke up some of the ice; caution is advised.

Dykesville & Red River
Anglers have been catching perch and whitefish in good numbers in this area. Most anglers have been using a jigging spoon to catch both, but a small ice jig has been working well as well. Fishermen have been reporting fish in 15-30 feet of water.

Brown Co.
Perch and walleye are still the gamefish of choice at Voyageur Park. People are fishing in 10 feet of water with jigs tipped with minnows. Perch fishermen at Duck Creek are catching fish, although many are small. Sunset Beach is also producing perch by jigging with minnows, early and late bites seem to be best.

Oconto Co.
Oconto Breakwater Park is producing some whitefish as well as a few northern, with perch being present but a bit hard to get them to engage the bait. Oconto Parks I and II are also having limited success with pike, baits of choice are dead sticking smelt or using large shiners suspended a foot off the bottom.

Marinette Co.
Open water fishing at the Hattie Street Fishermen's Walkway is slowly improving for trout during the day using stick baits and twister tails. Pan fishing with jigs and wax worms in the slough areas of the lower Menominee is producing fish.
