The Conover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will hold its first Ice Fishing Classic Saturday, Jan. 23, on Pioneer Lake in Conover.

Registration will be held from 7 to 8 a.m., with fishing to begin at 8 a.m. The registration fee is $25.

Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish in the following categories: walleye, bass, northern pike, crappie, perch, bluegill and sunfish.

All prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. in the registration tent at Maple View Resort.

The fire department will serve lunch in the registration tent, featuring soup, barbecued elk sandwiches, chips, soda and coffee. Cost for lunch will be $5.

Those registering by Jan. 1 will be entered in a drawing for a 32-inch flat-screen LCD Panasonic television.

Registration forms are available at H&R Block, Northern Carpets, Sweetwater Spirits & Resort, WRJO radio station, The Toy Shop, Log Cabin, Joe?s Pool Hall and Nicolet Credit Union.
