Douglas County Fishing report 2.28.08
« on: February 28, 2008, 10:13:23 AM »
Ice Fishing-  Ice conditions are excellent on all inland Douglas County lakes and slush conditions are at a minimum.  Ice on the St. Louis River and Bay area is thick, but further out the ice is very thin depending on the current. Shiners and crappie minnows have provided the most success for anglers. Crappies, Perch, Pan fish, Northern Pike, Coho salmon, Loopers and some Trout and Walleye have been caught recently.  For more information on ice fishing conditions and information, please call Northwest Outlet at 715-392-9838.

Ice fishermen may now access the Superior Bay at an opening opposite the public boat launch on Barker’s Island.  City crews prepared the opening in an effort to encourage a single access near the boat launch parking lot and NOT through the Barker’s Island Festival Park. Anglers are welcome to park in the boat launch lot and access the ice at the new opening, which has been signed as the proper entry.  For more information, call Parks & Recreation at 395-7270.
