PERMITS NOT AVAILABLE FOR 2014 SHARP-TAILED GROUSE SEASON
Preliminary spring survey results show that Wisconsin’s sharp-tailed grouse have made it through the harsh winter. However, the long-term trend of declining sharp-tail numbers is still cause for concern. The DNR Sharp-tailed Grouse Advisory Committee has decided to issue zero permits for 2014’s fall season. By state law, sharp-tailed grouse will retain their status as a game species and the department is hopeful that the population will respond positively to ongoing focused habitat management efforts. In the meantime, we thank those who remain passionate about Wisconsin’s strong and historic tradition of sharp-tailed grouse hunting.
