MINOCQUA - Two Northwoods fishermen are honored yesterday for their performance during the Wisconsin Musky Tour over the summer.
Clay Schroeder and Mark Lijewksi are from Hazelhurst and have been fishing as a team for 3 years.
The pair won the grand prize for the Wisconsin Musky Tour, which is the biggest it's ever been, $207,000 in cash and prizes.
In order to win, they had to place first in both a one day tournament and a 2-day tournament, win team of the year, and win the grand slam.
They won the grand slam by catching 3 muskies. Yesterday, they received their checks at the Musky Shop in Minocqua.
Clay Schroeder, the winner of the Wisconsin Musky Tour, says "It was an incredible feeling. I'll never forget it. The moment we knew we actually won it was just shock and disbelief that we had a plan, it came through and we did it."
Mark Lijewski, the winner of the Wisconsin Musky Tour, says "It feels very good obviously. I've been fishing professionally for about 10 years now and this is definitely the highlight of my career up to this date."
