Muzzleloader explodes; 1 hurt
The Journal Gazette

A Columbia City man was injured Sunday afternoon after the barrel of his muzzleloading rifle exploded in his hand.

According to Indiana Conservation Officer Jon Cook, Jason A. Sauder, 37, of South Eagle Glen Trail, was attempting to sight his rifle at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife area near North Webster when the blast occurred.

Cook reported that Sauder attempted to fire the muzzleloader to see whether it was loaded about 1:30 p.m. When nothing happened, he replaced the primer cap and reloaded the muzzleloader. Sauder then attempted to fire it for a second time.
