AMBOY - An elk hunter who wandered into a large marijuana growing operation near Amboy is fortunate to be alive, officials said Thursday.
"He happened to stumble across it in the forest," said Sgt. Tony Barnes with the Clark-Skamania Drug Task Force. "He backed out and called the task force."

As a heavily armed SWAT team moved cautiously into the steep, brushy and wooded area late Wednesday afternoon, three men fled and escaped.
They left behind an AK-47 assault-style rifle, a 30-30 lever-action rifle - and ammunition for both, Barnes said.
