LARGEST NATIVE PLANT SALE IN SOUTHERN WISCONSIN
UW-MADISON ARBORETUM Over 100 species of woodland flowers, prairie plants, ferns,
shrubs and trees will be for sale, all under one big tent on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UW-Madison Arboretum,
1207 Seminole Highway, Madison, WI 53711.
More and more people are gardening with native plants, and
recognize that the naturalistic approach improves the ecology of the land and enhances an area?s bio-diversity. A native garden reduces the need for fertilizers and herbicides, and attracts birds and butterflies. Rain gardens can increase the amount of water filtering into the ground by 30 percent while enhancing the beauty of your yard and neighborhood.
Experts will be at the Arboretum?s Wildflower Tent hroughout
the sale to answer questions. Information sheets detailing care for each plant will be available.
No plants at this sale are dug from the wild. All are native
to the area and, once established require minimal care. The varieties are selected for all locations ? sunny or shady, wet or dry, sandy or heavy soils.
The Friends of the Arboretum sponsor the sale annually to
benefit Arboretum projects.
