? Red Cedar State Trail, Menomonie, (715) 232-1242 - Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe. Come enjoy a free, fun evening for everyone! Three candlelit trails for skiing, snowshoeing and hiking will be available. Ski the Red Cedar State Trail to the Illuminated Ice Wall! Warming fire, hot chocolate, drawing for prices. Use your own snowshoes or some will be provided by the Menomonie School District. There are also limited ski rentals available from Stout Adventures (715) 232-5625, call and pick up in advance). No state trail pass needed during this event. Activities start at the Depot Visitor Center in Menomonie. 6-9 p.m.

? Hartman Creek State Park, Waupaca, (715) 258-2372 - Candlelight Ski/Hike. Ski on tracked trails lighted by candles, 1.5 miles in total distance. There is also, a 1-mile hiking trail lit by candles. Begin at the Hartman Lake Shelter Building. Warming and food, cooking fires/grills and hot water provided. Free refreshments (bars, cookies, cider and hot chocolate) provided by the Friends of Hartman Creek. 5-8 p.m.
? Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 - Snowshoe Hike for Adults. If you have wanted to try snowshoeing, this is the hike for you. We?ll use plastic Bearpaw snowshoes to hike around Havenwoods. Wear snowpants or bring along a change of clothes, because snowshoes kick up a little snow! If there is no snow, we will take a winter walk instead. This program is for adults and older teens. 10 a.m. - noon. No vehicle admission sticker required.
? Lake Wissota State Park, Chippewa Falls, (715) 382-4574 - Candlelight Ski/Snowshoe. Lighted ski, snowshoe, walking trails. Refreshments are available. Call (715) 967-2800 to reserve a pair of snowshoes. Sponsored by the Friends of Lake Wissota State Park. 5-8 p.m.
? Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, (920) 868-3258 - Wild About Woodpeckers 11 - 11:30 a.m. Nature Center. Discover amazing adaptations of the pileated woodpecker. Watch for downy, hairy and red-bellied woodpeckers at the Nature Center feeders. Nature Center open 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
? Perrot State Park, Trempealeau, (608) 534-6409. Winter Fest. Activities will include a dog sledding demonstration, horse-drawn rides, snowshoeing, sledding, cross-country skiing, winter tree identification and nature crafts. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
? Point Beach State Forest, Two Rivers, (920) 794-7480 - Candlelight Ski/Hike. Enjoy nature at its best! Join the Friends of Point Beach State Forest for our cross-country ski and hiking event. We will have a 1-mile candlelit trail through the pine and hemlock forest. Afterwards, there is a blazing fire in the lodge. Food, refreshment and entertainment will be available. Sponsored by the Friends of Point Beach. 5-9 p.m.
? Richard Bong State Recreation Area, Kansasville, (262) 878-5600 - Cross-country Ski Clinic. Bring your skis and join instructor John Meyer to learn about waxing and other skiing tips. The diagonal stride technique will be taught and practiced. Please call (262) 878-5600 to preregister. Event is weather dependent. Shelter 1. 9-11 a.m. Park Workday. Need a service project or service hours? Want to help the environment and the park? Help at our workday! You may come for the whole time or for a short time. Most suitable for ages 10 and up. Please stop at the office when you arrive and you will get a free daily pass for your vehicle. Make sure you dress to be outside working. 1-3 p.m. Owl Prowl. Join us for this annual event to discover why owls are the perfect night hunters. Dress for the weather because we will go outside in search for these predators. Be prepared to drive. Meet at the Visitor Center. 8:30-10 p.m.
? Whitefish Dunes State Park, Jacksonport, (920) 823-2400 - Friends Bake & Book Sale: Join the Friends for some great deal on all 2010 clothing designs. Need a book for a cold winter?s day? All of the books will be on sale ? 20% off! Pick up some tasty treats; choose one of each or a dozen. Sale for one day only, located in the nature center. 10 a.m. ? 8 p.m. Candlelight Ski: Snow covered trails; soft swish of the skis combined with candles describes the scenery at the Whitefish Dunes State Park annual candlelight ski. Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for a night of skiing and fun! The picnic shelter will be open and the fireplace lit. Hot beverages and popcorn will be provided to warm the insides and provide energy. No vehicle admission sticker is required to join in the evening event. The Friends are accepting donations in lieu of the required vehicle admission sticker. Sorry, pets are not allowed on the ski or in the shelter. 6 p.m. ? 9 p.m. Winter Star Gazing: Celebrate the night?s sky with the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society. Telescopes and knowledgeable guides will be in the far parking lot during the ski event (assuming clear skies) to engage visitors? sense of wonder and discovery in our universe. 6 p.m. ? 8:30 p.m.
