Wisconsin Fall waterfowl seasons set
By Kevin Naze • Press-Gazette correspondent •
Wisconsin's Natural Resources Board approved a 60-day duck season with a six-bird daily bag limit earlier this week, but attempts by state Department of Natural Resources Secretary Matt Frank to get the Fish and Wildlife Service to allow some harvest of canvasbacks and a more liberal bag limit for scaup failed.
The wood duck bag was increased to three daily, and the mourning dove season extended by 10 days. It'll run Sept. 1 to Nov. 9, with non-toxic shot required on DNR-managed lands. .
Nontoxic shot is required to hunt ducks and geese anywhere.
The northern zone duck hunt is set to open Sept. 27 while the
southern zone season begins Oct. 4, both at 9 a.m. the first day.
