Wayward shot knocks off boy's hat

TOWN OF THERESA — A 13-year-old Mayville boy is lucky to be alive to tell about his latest hunting expedition.
Jeffrey Trepanier, 32, contacted the Dodge County Sheriff's Department at 8:34 a.m. Monday to report that someone shot a hat off his son's head while they were hunting on public lands near Highways 28 and 175 just north of Theresa.
"That was way too close for comfort," said Deputy Chief Blaine Lauersdorf of the Sheriff's Department. "We searched the area and were unable to determine where the shot came from."
