Surprise Winner This Week in High School Trapshooting Week three of the Southeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) High School Trapshooting conference is complete with Jefferson ending Burlington?s two and a half year winning streak in weekly conference matches. The last time the Demons were bested was May 10, 2010.
Coming into the week three show down on a cold and windy night at the Jefferson Gun Club, the Eagles and Demons had the two highest averages of the thirteen conference teams. Cole Mewis and Lauren Loma came through with perfect rounds to lead the Eagles to a 120 to 117 victory over the defending SCTP National High School Champions. Jordan Hintz and Terry Carr each broke 24?s to lead the Demons who fell to 2-1 on the season.
Wilmot kept pace with Jefferson taking their record on the young season to 3-0. Ryan Lipstreuer ran his second clean round in three weeks to lead the Panthers to a 120 score over the virtual average of 108 in a match with conference newcomer Milwaukee Lutheran.
The high scores continued as 2-1 Waterford posted a 119 to down Cudahy?s 108. Phillip Davis went clean leading the Wolverines while Mason Zagar paced the Packers with 24.
Milwaukee Marquette bested Westosha Central 110 to 97 to improve to 2-1. Joeseph Kaczmarski led the Hilltoppers with 23 targets. Dalton Karrow had a 22 for the Falcons.
Lake Geneva?s 108 was led by Joe Altweis? 23 as the Badger posted a victory over the virtual score on reverse run giving them their first victory of 2013.
Racine Lutheran improved their record to 2-1 with a narrow 102 to 101 victory over Union Grove. Dan Roeder, Alexander Lovely and Chris Bocciardi each had 21 for the Crusaders. Amber Rasmussen paced the Broncos with a 22.
Paced by Ryan Kopp?s 22, Muskego snuck past Oconomowoc 97 to 94 to earn their first victory. The Cooney were led by Dalton Dunham?s 20.
Winners in Junior Varsity were Jefferson, Muskego, Badger, Waterford, Marquette and Wilmot. Wilmot?s Jacob Borkowitz had a clean 25 to lead all Junior Varsity shooters. Intermediate Cody McCarthy had a perfect 25 this week for Burlington.

The Mission of the SEWI SCTP Conference is to instill in young people a respect for good sportsmanship, competitiveness, cooperation, teamwork, and high moral character through trapshooting competition.
The SE Wisconsin SCTP Conference was formed to create in young people a set of personal values and character traits such as fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, self-discipline, and personal commitment - qualities necessary to become successful and contributing members of society.
Competition is an important part of the Conference, but it is not the program?s underlying principle. The ?win-at-all-costs? philosophy has no place in the Conference. Striving to win while playing by the rules does. It is the DUTY of everyone involved - coaches, parents and participants - to be role models for team members to emulate, by upholding high moral and ethical standards of personal conduct.
Our Conference embraces and upholds all the rules, guidelines and standards of conduct; which are listed in the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation?s SCTP Handbook, Coaches Guidelines, and its Sportsmanship Contract.
The safe responsible handling and use of firearms is the foundation of our organization. We believe that trapshooting is a lifetime sport that families can enjoy together and our Conference can bring communities together through interscholastic competition.
