  Wisconsin Statewide Rut Report  10.30.12

Archery hunters in Pierce and Sauk counties are reporting seeing a lot of deer movement and similar reports in from others, including Waushara County, where bow hunters are having luck grunting bucks, but, like angling, it is a mixed bag across the state. The rut is on, or about to begin across much of the state, including Eau Claire, Lafayette, Polk and Rock counties.

Bayfield County

Many deer rubs and scrapes have been seen in the past week as well as bucks starting to roam looking for does.

Burnett County

Deer movement continues to be spotty possibly because of the mild weather. Rubs and scrapes are showing up in the woods, but the best action is yet to come.

Polk County
The whitetail deer run is close. Several hunters said they have observed bucks chasing does already. A large number of scrapes in the woods have been seen along with several rub lines indicating the rut is fast approaching.

Washburn County

In northern Washburn County deer hunters have already reported seeing some bucks running with noses to the ground. A few scrapes are showing up in the woods.

Langlade County
Bucks are beginning to show an increase in rutting activity. A good number of scrapes and rubs are showing up in the woods as of last weekend.

Brown co.
Archery hunting is beginning to increase but the rut does not appear to have started yet.

Washington County
Deer rutting activity is starting to pick up with more deer being seen running around during daylight hours. Car-killed deer numbers are also increasing.

Lafayette County
Deer are really moving in Green and Lafayette counties and the bucks have been rutting lightly for about a week now.
