? Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 - Fall NatureFest: Snakes are Ssspectacular. Join us for a special day of scaly surprises with several spectacular species of Wisconsin snakes for you to meet. Go for a snake walk, do snake activities and crafts, and much more! This free special event is for people of all ages. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
? Interstate State Park, St. Croix Falls, (715) 483-3747 - Identifying Edible Wild Mushrooms. An experienced, self-educated mushroom hunter, Leslie Jo Meyerhoff, will tell where and when to go foraging for mushrooms, and what to bring along. Learn to identify what you've found and how to prepare and preserve your harvest. Call to preregister. The fee is $3 for Friends of Interstate Park members and $5 for members. Please bring pen and paper and a mushroom guidebook if you have one. Sponsored by Friends of Interstate Park. Ice Age Center. 1:30-3 p.m.
? Kettle Moraine State Forest--Northern Unit, Campbellsport, (920) 533-8322 - Exploring Nature: Migration Mysteries. Why do animals migrate? Where do they go? How do they find their way? We will try to find answers to these questions and unravel some other mysteries of migration. This program is best for families/groups with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years. Ice Age Visitor Center. 9:30-11 a.m.
? Kohler-Andrae State Park, Sheboygan, (920) 451-4080 - Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants. Come hike with John Johnston to search for the wild edible and medicinal plants found at Kohler-Andrae. John will share tips on using these unique and interesting plants. Wear comfortable shoes - the hike lasts about an hour. Meet at the closed gate. 2 p.m. Feeding Our Feathered Friends. Do you want to attract a flock of beautiful wild birds to your yard but are not sure how? In this fun and exciting seminar Liz Gartman will talk about the best feed and feeders to use. Bring your questions and notebook. Good program for the family. Sanderling Nature Center. 6 p.m.
? Mirror Lake State Park, Baraboo, (608) 254-2333 - Kayak, Kanoe and Kolor Tour. Water tour of Mirror Lake. The tour will last about two hours. We will be looking for fall colors and at some cultural and geological features of the lake. Kayak and canoe rentals will be available at the boat landing. Meet at the boat landing. 10 a.m.
? Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, (920) 854-5976. - Spooktacular Hike. Walk a one-mile, candlelit trail. Friendly goblins will greet little spooks. Suggested donation: $2/adult and $1/child. Fundraiser for Peninsula's nature center and local Girl Scouts. Park at Nicolet Beach. Drop by any time 5-7:30 p.m.
? Richard Bong State Recreation Area, Kansasville, (262) 878-5600 - The Living Prairie. Discover what makes a prairie unique and what it takes to keep it a prairie. Then hike to a restored prairie to investigate the plants and animals that depend on this great habitat. Visitor Center. 1-2:30 p.m.
? Willow River State Park, Hudson, (715) 386-5931 - Trail Run Along the Willow. Choose between a 5K and 10K run on challenging hilly terrain along the Willow River. There is an entry fee per runner. Sponsored by the OWLs Friends Group. Meet at the beach area. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The run begins at 9 a.m.
