Run-and-gun ice fishing

CANNON FALLS -- By 1 p.m. Sunday, Joe Pikulski and Myron Gilbert will have made it look like a herd of gophers went wild on the surface of Lake Byllesby.

The duo from Brooklyn, Mich., will have used new lighter-weight, high-tech augers to punch up to 300 holes in five hours to find the biggest, most aggressive and heaviest bluegills and crappies in the reservoir west of Cannon Falls.

Think of it as run-and-gun fishing, or trolling through the ice.
