Chetek Chain O' Lakes fishing report
By: Steve Sedani December 03, 2008
Well, it's finally here for Santa to land on and for the anglers to drill holes in and pull fish through. Yes, the ice is here and here to stay for a while.
Ten Mile, Six Lakes Bay, North Prairie Lake and Ojaski Lake have up to seven inches of ice on them. All of these lakes and bays have been producing fish with good ice for the early ice fishermen.
Walleye fishermen have had some luck with the early ice walleye bite. Red tail chubs or shiners are being used. A couple of 8-pound fish have been reported and caught and released back into the lake.
The northern pike action has also been very good for fishermen. Ten Mile and Six Lakes bays are producing plenty of action for those looking for the toothy critter. Be ready for them, because there have been some 40-inch northern caught which were released back into the lakes by those fishermen.
