We had a great small game opener this weekend.
We hunted in northern Chippewa County this weekend and had ten Grouse and three Woodcock flushes. We were lucky enough to harvest one Partridge and missed many more. It was a little hard with the rain that we experienced, I would liked to have got out a little more.
The foliage is very thick as usual for the opener and clean shots are tough to get. We were encouraged by the number of Grouse flushes, there seems to be more birds this year in Northern Chippewa County
Also the number of Woodcock that were flushed is encouraging especially since we were not really hunting or looking for Woodcock.
I am looking forward to the Woodcock season opening this next weekend in Wisconsin, this is really my passion.
