Just some of this week’s highlights include the Czech Heritage Festival, Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Show, the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, the Minnesota State Fair, Boundary Waters Blues Festival, Potato Days, and the Northwoods Art & Book Festival.

Southern Minnesota

The 47th Annual Corn Days celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, August 22 & 23, at Allison Park in Sleepy Eye. Festivities include free buttered corn, live entertainment, children’s games, crafters and vendors, a corn-eating contest, bingo, a parade, raffle, and more. The Freeborn County fairgrounds in the city of Albert Lea will offer a Big Island Barbeque, August 22 & 23, with a sanctioned competition by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. The 35th Annual Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Show will be held Friday through Sunday, August 22-24, in Le Center. The Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul will offer Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, through Sunday, August 24. The Minnesota State Fair will take place Thursday, August 21 through Monday, September 1 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St Paul. Highlights include 11 nights of big-name Grandstand entertainment, over 75 performers on five free stages, nearly 70 midway rides, extreme rides in Adventure Park, thousands of agricultural, livestock and creative competitions, over 450 foods, shopping galore, and some of the most unique and state-of-the art exhibits in the country. The 147th Annual Stiftungsfest celebration will take place Friday through Sunday, August 22-24, at Willkommen Park in Norwood/Young America.
