Wisconsin to get $23 million in federal funds

Wisconsin is slated to get a record amount of federal money during the 2008 fiscal year — nearly $23 million — to help fish and wildlife and the outdoors enthusiasts who enjoy pursuing them.
A portion of the money coming from the sales of state hunting and fishing licenses is used to match the grant funds.
In order to get the federal dollars, the Department of Natural Resources had to prepare a management plan last year to guide how the funds are used over a six-year period. The public had a chance to provide feedback on how the money was spent.
