Hunter uses knife to subdue attacking 6-point buck

TRUMANN — A hunting trip in Fulton County turned into a life-or-death wrestling match for a Trumann man there with family for the annual Arkansas Youth deer hunt.

What Greg Vincent found himself locked into a deadly struggle with Saturday morning was not human. It was a 6-point buck deer they walked upon while blood-trailing another deer shot by Vincent’s son, Kyle Vincent, who is 13.

“Kyle had shot a spike, and we were trailing it when all of a sudden we ran up on this buck,” Vincent said. He, his son and nephew, Dillon Vincent, who is also 13, were looking for the “spike,” or young buck.

“We had gone about 50 yards when we ran on the buck, who was just standing there,” Vincent said. “I told everyone to just be still and see what he was going to do.”
