Earn-a-buck cheating not widespread, WDNR reports

News that at least two deer registration stations in southern Wisconsin were shut down by the Department of Natural Resources has Internet message boards catering to hunters buzzing with rumors.

State officials acknowledge that some hunters cheat the earn-a-buck system by registering either road-killed deer or an antlerless deer that someone else already tagged when station officials failed to cut an ear — one of the requirements in earn-a-buck units to discourage such illegal activity.

I think it is more wide spread than they would like to think.
