New to the Fond du Lac area....
« on: November 18, 2007, 10:05:44 AM »
Hi!

We just moved to the area and I am looking to get into the ice fishing season here. I am planning on purchasing a Eskimo Profish 150 portable house, a Mr heater, and a 4-5" hand auger. If you have feedback on these I would like to hear pros/cons and recommendations for the hand auger.

But mostly I would like some feedback on where the crappies are near FDL.

Happy Fishing!

Hello There,
I saw your post and I was really surprised no one had replied. I am new to the blog but not the area. You are in a great area. And make sure that you check out the sturgeon spearing season, that is an absolute BLAST. But first things first, Ice augers are vast as your wallet. The Mora's are great. lower cost but effective, the Laser brand is a little more money but the old rule follows, you get what you pay for. Now just so you know, the ice can get really thick on winnebago, so much so they actully PLOW roads for sturgeon spearing season. This being said if your wallet could stand it, you may want to look into a gas powered auger. Maybe santa could help out with this one...lol
Good luck this year!
See you on the ice, Garrett
