Turkey hunters get chance to buy extra fall permits beginning today

Wisconsin hunters who didn’t apply for fall turkey hunting permits by the Aug. 1 deadline have a second chance, beginning at 10 a.m. today when 27,835 tags go on sale.

Extra tags can be purchased at license outlets, on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Web site at www.dnr.wi.gov, or www.wildlifelicense.com, or by telephone at (877) 945-4236.

Nearly 95,000 tags were available this fall for 47 turkey management units. About 67,000 applicants received a card or tag in the mail indicating they were selected and can purchase a carcass tag and turkey hunting license. Patron license holders received their tags rather than a postcard.
