Green Bay Fishing Report: May 26, 2010

Oconto Co.
Water temperatures at the landings are in the low to mid seventies. The weather has turned hot and so has the fishing for some species. Fishing pressure has been light to moderate during the week and heavy on the weekends. Brown trout are still being caught in the Stiles Dam area using bead head nymphs and caddis; smallmouth bass are being caught on small Rap's and crank baits, and the bluegills are biting on slip bobbers and worms/crawlers. Pensaukee landing fishermen are catching their share of walleye trolling crawler/harness in 8 to 12 feet of water, sheephead are also part of this bite. Panfish and bass are being caught in the river proper. Bass are being caught in the Oconto River using crank baits and twister tails, while walleye are being caught in 18 to 22 feet of water offshore. Oconto Park II fishermen are catching pike, bullheads, and panfish from shore using slip bobbers and fishing crappies rigs. The walleye bite is also in the deeper water.

Marinette Co.
Peshtigo Harbor fishermen are bagging some real nice nice catfish along with some huge carp and the occasional sheephead fishing on bottom with crawlers. Smallmouth are also active being drawn to stick and crank baits. The Menominee River walleye bite is alive and well with most of the best action taking place in the evening. Some Musky are being caught using top water baits and large spinners.
