Chippewa Flowage Fishing report  9.21.11

Weather report

Sounds like a nice weekend coming up.  Sunny and in the mid 60's.

Water temperature

Low 60's, and I don't think the lake has turned over yet.

Water level

The lake is sitting at a little over two feet down.  The'll probably
continue to pull it down until they open Moose Lake in about three
weeks.

Fall colors

It's starting to get nice out there.  It's still early yet but things
are beginning to change.

Walleye:
Some are being caught--still deeper--it should become a minnow bite at any time now.

Muskie:

Not too bad.  Because of water temperature, they have no real lure
preference right now.  I see this every year around this
time--bucktails, surface baits, suckers, jerk baits--it will stay like
this until the water cools off a little more.

Crappie:

Crappie still seem to be primarily on the cribs--no movement
yet. Minnows sound best.

Notes:
Not much bass, northern or bluegill activity--we're getting into the
time of year where eveyone is targeting walleye, musky and crappie.
