Minocqua Area Fishing Report 12.6.10

There is fishable ice all over the Northwoods. Ice averaging 2-5" with some areas at 6" plus. BUT, as of 12/6/10 there were lakes with open water (Fence, Minocqua, Tomahawk, Big Muskellunge). Most of those skimmed over last night/this morning thanks to single digit cold. Just be careful.

We should have a lot better ice come this weekend with the cold. No car/truck traffic yet, but ATV travel will be possible on most bays and smaller lakes.

Fishing has been good overall with Northern Pike (up to 15 lbs) Walleye (to 10-1/2 lbs) good #'s of gills lots of largemouth bass and some perch.

As of now, take a spud bar and creepers as snow cover not too deep. Check ice thickness as you go and don't go alone.
