Scholastic Pistol Program Wisconsin State Championship Results

Muskego, WI ? On June 14th, the first ever Scholastic Pistol Program Wisconsin State Championship was held at Schultz Resort Rod and Gun Club. The championship combined college and high school pistol teams. 61 young competitive pistol shooters ranged in age from 12 years old to college age students shooting centerfire and rimfire ammunition.

During a match, athletes shoot on four stations throughout the range, each having five ballistic steel targets set at various distances and configurations within each stage. Once the athlete approaches the shooting box, a timer is sounded and the athlete engages each of the targets. The fastest four out of five times the athlete completes each stage are recorded. A total of 200 rounds of ammunition are used for the entire course of fire. During this event, over 12,000 rounds of 9mm and .22 long rifle ammunition were expended. One of the most exciting aspects of this match is that a third of the athletes are female.

Three college teams; MATC ?Oak Creek, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and Southwest Technical College and four high school teams; Burlington Demons Pistol Shooting Team, Lake County Action Shooters (Hartland, WI area), Ozaukee County Pistol Team, and Wilmot Panthers Pistol Team all competed for the state title.
