2013 SE WI SCTP Trap Conference Shootout Results Waukesha Gun Club, June 1, 2013 -- The thirteen High School teams in the SE WI SCTP Trapshooting Conference wrapped-up the fourth season of youth trapshooting in Southeast Wisconsin in the most competitive shoot in the four years since the conference began. After nearly 50,000 clay targets were thrown on May 31 and June 1 at the Waukesha Gun Club there was a familiar ending, but it was not without drama as the final results were not known until the very last scores came in at the end of the shoot.
A record of 449 young athletes participated in this year?s event; almost 100 more than 2012 and nearly double the number of shooters in 2011. Each athlete shot four rounds of 25-targets with the top-five scores from each team are counted as the teams score; this allows all of the young athletes to compete and put forth their best score to help position their team into medal contention.
When all the shots had been fired, the Burlington Demons top five of Myles Walker, Christian Jensen, Alexa McCarthy, Gunnar Knight and Jacob DeRosier tallied 482 of 500 targets to edge out Milwaukee Marquette by just eight targets to take their fourth straight Varsity title with Jefferson a close third at 473. Eight Varsity teams finished within 20 birds of the Demons, showing how much the level of competition has tightened in the last three seasons.
Waterford?s quintet of Madelyn Bernau, DJ Grundy, Mathew Davis, Thomas Jackley and Tristen Blank topped the Junior Varsity scores at 459 followed by Westosha Central at 450 and Burlington with 447.
The Demon Intermediates (up to eighth grade) of Hunter Conrad, Cody McCarthy, Cullen Kruser, Weston Uhlenhake and Jared Hahn posted a gold-medal score of 462 to best Westosha Central?s 454 and Jefferson?s 432.
Oconomowoc Junior Varsity shooter Dalton Dunham broke 99 of 100 targets to earn the Grand Champion?s plaque. The future looks bright for the conference as four of the top six overall scores were shot by underclassmen. Individual gold medal winners were Dan Roeder of Racine Lutheran in Varsity with 98, Daniel Patterson of Milwaukee Lutheran with 97 in JV and Intermediate Joey Pfankuch of Milwaukee Marquette with 98.
There was also a 50-bird sporting clays event held for any of the young athletes that wanted to participate and the Waukesha Gun Club gave away flats of 12-guage ammo to the High Overall Team and individual. The Demons Myles Walker, Christian Jensen, Jordan Hintz, Cody Schilz and Terry Carr were the victors in the team event. Wilmot?s Ryan Lipsteurer was the High Overall individual at 143 with 97 trap and 46 sporting clays.
Special thanks to the Waukesha Gun Club and The Milwaukee Marquette Hilltoppers for hosting a great competitive shoot for all the young athletes. Over 800 young athletes are expected on June 15th when the Waukesha Gun Club hosts the Wisconsin State SCTP shoot.

The Mission of the SEWI SCTP Conference is to instill in young people a respect for good sportsmanship, competitiveness, cooperation, teamwork, and high moral character through trapshooting competition.
The SE Wisconsin SCTP Conference was formed to create in young people a set of personal values and character traits such as fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, self-discipline, and personal commitment - qualities necessary to become successful and contributing members of society.
Competition is an important part of the Conference, but it is not the program?s underlying principle. The ?win-at-all-costs? philosophy has no place in the Conference. Striving to win while playing by the rules does. It is the DUTY of everyone involved - coaches, parents and participants - to be role models for team members to emulate, by upholding high moral and ethical standards of personal conduct.
Our Conference embraces and upholds all the rules, guidelines and standards of conduct; which are listed in the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation?s SCTP Handbook, Coaches Guidelines, and its Sportsmanship Contract.
