Title: South Dakota Pheasant Hunting Trip 09
Post by: mudbrook on October 30, 2009, 08:45:49 AM
We had a successful South Dakota Pheasant hunt for the 2009 season. We left for Gettysburg SD Friday morning and arrived late Fri. night. We planned on hunting Sat. through Tues. and hunting four full days and going home Wed. morning. The weather was great, we had rain just about every day but it really did not affect our hunting.

We managed to take home 27 birds home with us this year, below is a picture of John and Jeff with one of our days hunt.

We stayed in a cabin on the Missouri River just west of Gettysburg. The location is close to public hunting and we had good results there on Sat. morning.

The view off the deck was awesome, we had a panoramic view of the Missouri River.

With everything considered this was a great Pheasant hunt. All of our hunting was done on public land and consisted mostly grassland and swamp surrounded by croplands of corn and beans.

This year was a little more difficult because most of the crops were still in the field because of the wet weather we have had in the Mid West this year. We did have to work for our birds!
