A western Wisconsin hunter has a close encounter, with a cougar!
The man was turkey hunting in Juneau County over the weekend when he went to investigate strange noises, and witnessed a cougar attacking a heifer. He fired shots into the air to scare it off. The heifer was severely injured and had to be put down. The DNR says it will try to capture the cougar and kill it, as they would with any bear or wolf that attacks livestock. They also intend to study the animal to determine its origin.
