Storms hurt bait shop owners

John Laimon and his wife Loie celebrated their 25th year as bait shop owners on Pewaukee Lake recently and thought that if they had made it that long in a field that has shrunk for years, nothing could stop them.

Then, the lake that has supported their two bait shops gobbled them up.

His launch was under water. The docks that his rental boats were tied to were in pieces. The retail floor of his muskie shop had enough water in it to run a shallow running crankbait.

"Pretty much everything got it," Laimon said. "But still, there are a lot of people out there who got it worse. We'll get through this."
