Green Bay Fishing Report: August 10, 2010

Brown Co.

Fox River: Shore fisherman are catching a plethora of sheephead, catfish and white perch from the metro landing all the way to Voyager Park. Anglers trolling for walleye are not having the same good luck. Most have been trolling harnesses or crank baits.

East Shore
    Sturgeon Bay:
Walleye fisherman have been fishing Larson?s Reef with some good luck. Most anglers have been fishing in 20 feet of water during the day and moving shallower during low light periods. A few anglers have been venturing out for salmon from Potawatomi State Park. Action has been slow but some nice fish are being taken. The perch bite has been going strong the last few days with some good catches reported. Most, though, have been on the small side. Little Sturgeon Bay: Fisherman have been targeting perch with some success. Most are still fishing the weeds inside the bay itself. Also, walleye anglers have been venturing out at night with acceptable outcomes. Most anglers are trolling harnesses or crank baits. Bayshore Park: Walleye fishing has been spotty over the last week. Most have been trolling harnesses. Walleye fishermen have reported catching some very nice perch, catfish and sheephead as well. The perch anglers are having some good success in 15-20 feet of water just north of the harbor. Most have been using bottom rigs tipped with a minnow or piece of night crawler. Perch fishermen are also reporting catching numerous sheephead and catfish. Chaudoir's Dock: Perch fishermen have been finding size and numbers of perch the last week or so. Most anglers are fishing 20-30 feet of water with crawlers or minnows. A few walleye fisherman have struck gold over the last week off the dock. Most have been trolling harnesses for the best results.

Oconto Co.

With the continued heat and humidity many boaters are taking to the water, both fishermen and pleasure craft. Water temperatures are in the mid to upper seventies with stained water clarity and a goodly amount of floating debris. The bluegill bite by Stiles Dam is once again in full swing with some nice catches on slip bobbers and worms, drifting the current. Pensaukee landing is reporting a strong walleye bite trolling crawler/harness and stick baits in 14 to 20 feet of water. The Pensaukee river itself is producing some nice bass on top water baits as well as spinners. Oconto Breakwater Park and Oconto Park II are producing some nice walleye in the same range of water and technique. The perch bite has been slow with the majority of fish being released due to size.

Marinette Co.
The Peshtigo Harbor catfish bite bite has slowed due to fast current and floating debris. The Menominee River continues to be a hot spot for walleye both trolling upriver and floating crawlers from a fixed position. Most of the action has been occurring from the Hattie Street Bridge down to Boom Island. Salmon continue to provide some fast action from Chambers Island down to the Peshtigo Light. Depth and color seem to change so look for other boats to find the hot spots.
