Burnett County Fall/Hunting Season - ATV/UTV* Trail Information

From September 16th through November 30th you can ride your ATV & UTV* on any woods trail, snowmobile trail and ATV trail as long as they are located on County Forest Lands and they are not bermed, gated or signed as closed ? and they need to be at least eight feet wide.   No off trail use is allowed and operation on private lands is illegal unless you have permission from the private landowner.

Please contact individual townships for their rules and regulations for ATV & UTV* use on their town roads.  Each individual township has their own ordinance allowing for the use of town roads with ATVs.  So you do need to contact each individual township.  Contact information can be found on the Burnett County website under Government, then to Municipalities.

It is very important to note that all these trails are currently multi-use trails.  This means that any licensed or registered machine, (such as cars or trucks), can use these trails during this time.  It?s also important to note that these trails are no longer being maintained during this time of year.

Remember, it is your responsibility to know where you are and who?s property you are on. Plat books are your best resource as a map of county forest land.  Plat books are available at Burnett Dairy in Alpha, the Log Cabin Store in Danbury, the Burnett County Sentinel Office in Grantsburg, the Leader Office in Siren; or you can call the U-W Extension Office at 715-349-2151.

Please be careful, be respectful to other trail users, and ride safely.

Further rules and licensing information can be found at www.burnettcounty.com
under Forest & Parks Department, then to Recreation, and then ATV Trails.

*Burnett County is participating in a pilot program for UTV use which is scheduled to end 6/30/12.
