•   Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee, (414) 527-0232 - One Wild Saturday Morning Drop-in: White-tailed Wonders. Deer are on the move this time of year. Learn how deer use their senses, how they communicate, turn yourself into a deer, and lots more. You and your family or youth group can drop in between 9 a.m. and noon to discover cool things about nature through hands-on activities, experiments, crafts, games, and picture books. Environmental Awareness Center. No admission sticker required.

Come in and strut your stuff as we learn about the wild turkey - our big, beautiful woodland bird. This hour of nature fun awaits 3- to 6- year-olds with accompanying adults. Ice Age Visitor Center. 9:30-10:30 a.m.

•   Big Foot Beach State Park, Lake Geneva, (262) 348-2420 or e-mail - 5K, 10K, and Junior Gobbler Turkey Trot. Take part in a 5K, 10K or Junior (1 mile) run at Big Foot Beach. Turkeys will be awarded to the firest male and female finishers in the 5- and 10-kilometer runs and medals will be awarded to the firest male and female finishers in each age category: 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Registration forms are available by e-mail. Fees: 5K $20 ($25 after October 31) 10K $30 ($35 after October 31), Junior $10($15 after October 31). Sponsored by the Friends of Big Foot Beach. Meet at the playground picnic area. 1/2 mile fun run for kids 9:30 a.m. 5K, 10K and Junior Gobbler 10 a.m.
