NORTHERN MINNESOTA

Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, located just north of the city of Onamia, will offer a WINTER BIRDS program on Saturday, January 5. The 9TH ANNUAL WARMER BY THE LAKE will be held January 5 at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth. The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis will be the site of A NORDIC CHRISTMAS through Sunday, January 6. A WASHBURN A-MILL TOUR will be offered at the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 5 at 1 p.m. This guided tour offers an in-depth look at the historic Washburn A-Mill complex, with information on the lives of the men and women who worked there, how the building functioned during its peak flour milling years, and the many changes to the building over time. The tour includes admission to the museum gallery, as well as the Flour Tower show and the new film "Minneapolis in 19 Minutes Flat." Fort Snelling State Park in St. Paul will present CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING BASICS on Saturday, January 5 at 10 a.m., with lessons on using your new or old skis. Ski rental is not available. And on Sunday, January 6 at 1 p.m., Fort Snelling will also offer LEARNING TO SNOWSHOE, with a guided snowshoe walk. Bring your own snowshoes, or use a pair from the park.
