Traditionally, Robert and Mary Wakely had a dinner party in February. It
was an opportunity to share a good meal and conversation with their
neighbors. People came from up and down the river to enjoy a time of
merriment and music. The citizens of Point Basse re-enact the Wakely's
celebration with a grand dinner. The banquet consists of bison, chicken,
venison, rabbit, racoon, vegetables, potatoes, dressing, squash, baked
beans from the Wakely garden, sauerkraut, bread, beverages,and Tom's
Bread Pudding is a traditional favorite dessert.
A delicious banquet, traditional foods, plus wild game and other foods.
