Date of Report: December 22, 2008
Trail Conditions: Very Good
Snow Cover: 16 inches
Area Report: Great Conditions! That’s what our early riders have been saying. Cold weather and continuous snow showers have helped create the best December conditions in years. Global Warming?! Maybe somewhere but only two days this December have been above normal and checking with Presque Isle Lake Weather
http://home.centurytel.net/presque-isle-weather total snowfall for the year is over 50 inches with 16 inches on the ground. The Presque Isle/Winchester Trails have been 100% groomed and we’re rating them VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT. So pack up the sleds and come north… we have cheap gas and we’re “Thinking Snow!”
THE USE OF CAUTION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED DUE TO TRAILS ARE IN EARLY SEASON CONDITION AND MORE SNOW IS NEEDED DUE TO SECONDARY FOREST ROADS BEING RUTTED THIS FALL. THE RECENT COLD WEATHER HAS FIRMED UP AREA SWAMPS AND LOW LANDS. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO CROSS ANY AREA LAKE UNTIL THE ROUTE ACROSS THE LAKES HAVE BEEN CLEARLY MARKED.
Here in Northwest Vilas County we got about 6 inches of high moisture snow followed by a mist and warm temperatures. Late Sunday night we got nearly 2 inches of fresh fluffy snow and below zero temperatures... I'm going riding! PS Check out our forcast and "Think Snow"
