Ice Fishing / Tipsico Lake Get-together

Helped organize an event for the Iceshanty.com crew of S.E. Michigan. Even with the weather we ended up with about 36 fellas!!! People came from as far away as Ohio, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Troy Mt. Clemons and Detroit area.

Total success. All pannies were small, but many legal Pike were landed. There was no proverbial "One in the crowd". Everyone was so helpful, hospitable and friendly!!! We had two BBQs grilling Venison, Gooose and Brats. Big pot of homemade venison chili too!!

Met a ton of good people and have some leads on a few new good sounding fishing spots as well.

Thanks to Fishhead for bringing the ice kitchen along and all his good cooking!!!!

20, 21 & 23.5  50MPH winds

Saturdays Take:  Nothing under 7, most were nearing 8. Biggest of the day was 9.75"""""" A true brutasaurus.

Sundays take. Much tougher bite. 7 other guys landed a total of 20 fish between them including Bottomline. I had over 40 plus the small bass. Over 3 dozen were 8+ The big gills were cruisin, but were very spooky with the clear ice. Everyone else did the run and gun which kept the fish on the move. They hated shadows. So I stayed in my shack and had 5 rods rigged with bait at the ready. When the school came through, I would hook, land and then set rod and fish on ice and drop a new set-up down real quick!! Had to nab them within about 1.5 minutes, cause the schools never actually stopped under the shack but would be on the constant move.

Kitty and I were about half done cleaning fish here. This is a better view of the size of pannies!!!

The weekend take filled three one pound zip-locs with boneless, skinless filets!!! :D

Night time pike

Was a decent weekend for fishing. This weekends bounty included 94 Bluegills, crappie and sunnies.

Kitty cleaning fish again....

Pike had a few bluegills in her. Table fare for the day!!!

Waterfowl / RL's Goose Hunting 2009
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:31:08 AM »
Finished the two week early season with 13 Geese. The last five culled yesterday were giants. Lucked out and picked up a limit after work 9-15-2009. Managed a triple on the first shot, and one each on the next two shots. Nice way to end the early hunt.

And yes, the bumper sticker does say "I will keep my money, guns and freedom, you can keep the CHANGE"

The Regular Season Goose Opener started well. Have culled 18 birds so far in 2009. Just need to get out for duck sooner or later, but geese have more meat so no biggie I suppose >:(

This was Saturday morning by 8AM, a quick limit.

General Discussion / Re: Can you I.D. this tresspasser / thief?
« on: October 13, 2009, 10:49:14 AM »
Very informitive post. Sure hope you are able to track this thief down. He deserves to be punished for the irresponsible actions he has demonstrated by steeling from someone else that what is not his.

One day if he continues this behavior he may just get poetic justice in the woods. Thank you for your efforts in trying to police our sports, woods and selves!!! Great post!!
