How to Control Deer numbers in Metro areas
« on: January 23, 2008, 03:30:12 PM »
Here is an article that was posted in the Park Falls herald that talks about problems they are having with Deer within the city limits of Park Falls, they are exploring ways that the deer numbers can be controlled.

Its interesting to read that they are unwilling to do the one thing that we know for sure would help control Deer in the city limits. I'm not saying it would solve the problem, but it sure would help.
Thats to stop feeding the Deer!

I am not an anti baiting advocate, but it just makes sense to me that we should not be feeding Deer in any metro area for recreational purposes. It's dangerous to do so and not good for anyone in the long run, especially the Deer.

City deer survey leaves council hunting for answers

Park Falls Herald
PARK FALLS -- Maybe someone should ask the deer?

The city of Park Falls got a good number of responses from a deer management survey it sent to city residents in December.

What it didn't get were clear-cut answers.

While just over half of the respondents feel there are too many deer within the city limits, they were pretty much split down the middle on questions of harvesting deer within the city limits as a method of control.

And while 209 of the 331 responding -- nearly two-thirds at 63% -- said they would be in favor of a ban on feeding deer within the city of Park Falls, members of the Park Falls Common Council weren't ready to go there, at least not yet.
